Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: ‘@NakedAndAfraid Anyone else see the clothed guy with the rifle standing on the opposite bank of the river while Darvil was trying to cross? #NakedAndAfraid’
While another annoyed fan penned: ‘@NakedAndAfraid Omfg! I just started to hate #NakedAndAfraid What’s up with this? You have to tell Security to stay out the shot.
‘And all these people act scared to death on the show. Why when they have somebody with a rifle? #scripted #fake #StupidShow’

‘You have to tell security to stay out of the shot!’ The man seemed to be a security worker going ahead of the adventure seekers

Spotted: Several viewers noticed the man holding a rifle walking ahead of Darvil in the show
However others replied saying it was no surprise that there’s security on hand as the contestants are taking part in a TV show filmed in the wilderness.
Backing the TV show, one person wrote: ‘It is television after all. You didnt think it was real?’
While another replied: ‘I for one have always assumed there was a sharp shooter nearby. That certainly doesn’t guarantee safety, but should help the players get some sleep and/or peace of mind.
‘I can’t believe anyone would believe folks are put out there with NO protection.’
MailOnline has contacted Discovery Channel for a comment.

‘It’s television after all’: However others said it wasn’t ‘that serious’ and should have been obvious that the show would have security in place for its contestants

Tough: The Discovery Channel series sees adventurers try to survive in the wild for 21 days with no supplies such as water or clothes (pictured thrill seekers on the 2018 season)
During Sunday’s show, Lynsey and Darvil had their strength and bravery tested after having to deal with wild baboons and hyenas in the area.
Darvil also slipped into a crocodile-infested river elsewhere in the episode ensuring lots of action for viewers despite the editing mishap.
The latest season of Naked And Afraid sees adventure seekers trying to survive in the dense rainforests of Ecuador and on the plains of South Africa.
Contestants, who have no water or supplies during the challenge, have their skills constantly tested and have to find shelter as well as enough food to survive.
In 2013, Naked And Afraid was also hit with claims of being ‘fake’ when contestant Kim Shelton was allegedly given more help than you might expect without viewers being told, MailOnline exclusively revealed at the time.

Ouch: Survivalist EJ Snyder (pictured) almost lost his genitals after suffering a bloody injury during an episode of Discovery Channel show Naked and Afraid XL last month
Kim was fed bread, rice and baby food when she got food poisoning after eating a turtle’s liver during the show’s premiere, a source close to the show has claimed.
The 22-year-old was apparently even hooked up to two IV drips – one in each arm – to rehydrate her while she was ill.
While no-one would argue with giving her the medical care she needed, many may raise an eyebrow as to why the four million who watched the show weren’t told.
While last month, an American army veteran almost lost his genitals after suffering a gruesome injury on the set of Naked and Afraid XL.

Painful: The army veteran learned a painful lesson about the risks of nude survivalism after he fell from a tree branch and into a swamp, sustaining multiple lacerations to his scrotum

Surgery: EJ received eight stitches and was ordered to stay out of the water and avoid overly-exerting himself for seven to 10 days to ensure the wound healed properly
The show sees a group of elite survivalists attempt to survive naked in the deadly swamps of Louisiana, America, for two months.
Contestant EJ Snyder fell from a tree branch and into a swamp, sustaining multiple lacerations to his scrotum.
‘I fell in, the branch broke, I hit a stick. It just lacerated… but it’s OK. It’s just an open wound. All I need is a couple of stitches’, army veteran EJ told a female member of the show’s medical team.
‘You need a lot of stitching,’ the medic replied.
EJ was immediately given the option of either quitting the competition and going to hospital, or immediately receiving stitches on-site and continuing on the show.

Keeping his cool: Proving his incredible resilience, EJ nonchalantly lifted up his loincloth and declared: ‘I almost chopped my balls off yesterday’

‘My Cannon Balls are fine’: After the episode aired, EJ uploaded a post to Instagram updating fans about the status of his injury
